fishing reports

We fish Santee Cooper year round. Summer fishing water conditions bring hotter water around 70-90 degrees: Fishing is reliable at this time. Day time trips are hot but very productive. Night fishing is my preference as it is cooler, but we have thunderstorms and lots of bugs to deal with. Most big fish caught at this time are caught at night. Summer fishing is June, July and August.

In Spring fishing the water is warmer between 50-70 degrees: Fishing is most productive during this period as they feed up and begin their yearly trip to shallow water for the spawn. Fish are fat and active with good numbers and size being prevalent at this time. Spring fishing in South Carolina are the months of March, April and May. March is mostly anchor fishing while April and May offer prime drift fishing opportunities. River fishing in the Congaree, Wateree and Santee river is very good in March. River charters are taken aboard our 20ft. Sea ark jet-drive boat along with some shallow water trips. We are taking reservations for the spring. Our past fall fishing brought in good catches. In the Fall fishing-cool water 50-70 degrees: This is the most comfortable time of year to fish as fishing is good and daytime temperatures diminish to more friendly ranges. We catch some very heavy fish and have good numbers of quality fish provided the weather will allow us to get on the lake.  Fall fishing is September, October and November. Our Winter fishing  on Santee Cooper Lakes and rivers is considered to cover the months of December, January and February. This is the time of year when our enclosed pontoon and a heater really feel good. In Winter fishing the water is colder between 40-60 degrees: Some of the best days all year are during this period. Fishing during this time can somewhat be sporadic as the weather and wind conditions drastically affect the days we can fish and the bite of the fish.

Stable weather brings stable fishing. When frontal conditions come in, fish will often change their habits and become hard to predict for days at a time. My 30 plus years of fishing experience has taught me how to predict their patterns. Contact me today for the latest fishing report- our winter fishing trip availability dates are limited.
