Meet your Captain John Gary Hill
I was born July 15, 1947 in
Rutherfordton, N.C. I'm married to Diana Turner Hill and we have
two children, Justin and Carla. Our Grandkids Ame, Cailyn, Chandler and
Judah are a very important
part of our lives
as are all things outdoors that fill up my world. Fishing has always been a
passion along with music, motorcycles, woodworking, cooking, and raising
Dobermans. Right is our family's Doberman, Simon.
I have been a full time guide since 1998 and fished Santee Cooper Lakes and Rivers for more than 29 years, trained by American Red cross in adult - child and CPR, first aid and water rescue. Prior, to full time charter guide I worked 30 years for Bellsouth telephone in Western N.C. from 1968 - 1998.
Lets go fishing and have a great time! Depending on the time of year and fishing trends we fish different methods from two different types of boats. In my guiding I will help you understand my methods, tools and baits as they may benefit you on your home lakes.
Our Fleet of Boats Shown left we're heading out the Diversion Canal early in the morning. We use our 2007- 30 foot Tri-Toon for drift - fishing trips. It has a permanent 12 ft. top with cold weather enclosure for your fishing comfort and a Restroom. VHF marine radio, Color sonar and GPS systems are up to date, Powered by Evinrude E - Tech 225 hp makes this a very comfortable and fast boat. We are handicap accessible and we can carry up to six passengers aboard this boat.
We also have a 20 ft. Sea Ark super - jon tunnel boat that we use for
river trips and very shallow water fishing. This boat has a 80 hp
Mercury Jet drive for power and will take us into areas that can not be
reached with prop driven boats.
Flexibility has become important in the 170,000 acres of Lake Marion and
Lake Moultrie. We're willing to move to any part of the lake or rivers
to put you on the best fish possible. You will get our best
effort on every charter. This Sea Ark rig has a Bimini top, Minn Kota
auto pilot trolling motor, VHF marine radio, and Lowrance electronics.
.The nature of these areas we use this boat in, limits us to 4
passengers. This boat was featured in the 2000 In-fisherman catfish
Guide magazine as the top catfish boats in America.
